What is Periodic Driver CPC?
Periodic Driver CPC is the term given to the training that a driver, who holds a vocational licence, must attend in order to refresh their knowledge in the key areas of the transport industry.
The abbreviation CPC stands for Certificate of Professional Competency and was designed in order to standardise the quality of professional driving across the EU.
In order to obtain a Driver CPC qualification card a driver must attend 35 hours of accredited training. This is typically done in 7-hour sessions but can be split into 2, 3.5-hour sessions providing the second session is completed within 24 hours of the first ending.
Once a driver has completed 35 hours of accredited training, they are issued with a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and this is valid for 5 years. The expiration date is shown on the reverse of the card. The driver must then complete the next set of 35 hours training before the expiration date on the card in order to maintain their qualification.
Our Periodic CPC courses are JAUPT approved. JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) manage the application process and quality assurance programme of centres and courses for periodic training.
